Genzai Chi

have you checked Chico's blog lately?

sunnier and warmer than yesterday. i walked to the auto club to get my international driver's permit. and then to Del Amo Mall. a dear friend is having a BIG birthday soon and i can't seem to find the perfect gift. after the mall and Target i stopped by the grocery store before returning home. where has the day gone? time for dinner and then to seriously get my income taxes done. i may be out of the country when they are due. one of my favorite shows, The Office, will be on tonite. i think it has a St. Patrick's Day theme. one of my other favorite shows, Modern Family was on last night. i need to watch it again as i think i fell asleep. and i think i will have to wait until i get back to Japan to watch the final episode of my new favorite Japanese dorama, Magerarenai Onna. fortunately, i have been able to watch the first 8 episodes online. will Kanno Miho become a lawyer? will she have a baby? will she get together will Aida-san?

here are some photos from my thursday:
genzai chi (yes, where is my family?)(no, that is not what genzai chi means. it means you are here)

we have the technology . . . but, do we really need it?

himawari 8

i'll take the corner office

5 minutes from my home and i have never been. maybe i will get to go to the one in Minoo soon.

who is Ken Sushi?

really? the pen is attached to the clipboard. why clip? if the pen doesn't clip, you must acquit (O.J. Simpson trial reference).

coral tree to omoimasu (i think)

can you read it? i used to be one. maybe one day i will be again.

today and previous todays

left home at 630am and returned around 2pm. where was i? gym and some shopping. things do take longer when you are walking and using the bus.

this morning's sunrise from inside the bus. i almost got off to take some photos.

sunrise from the gym parking lot.

same flower?

it's a bike rack in case you were wondering. Manhattan Beach in early december.

Manhattan Beach flags . . . one is year round, one is seasonal.

from my walk to the beach for the last sunset of 2009.

more and less everything

more exercise, more sunshine. less Vinyl Cafe, less food. first walk to the beach, another sunset. and my first call on a cell phone from the beach. and no, i didn't lose it.

moon over Hawthorne while waiting on the bus this morning

happiness is a yellow balloon against a blue blue sky

can you see downtown LA in the distance behind the palms and in front of the mountains? although it is not always this clear, i can see this view on my walk to the beach.

the first tanpopo (dandelion) of the new year

not the most beautiful sunset but any day at the beach, in the water looking for shells is a good day.

calling Mother to wish her a Happy New Year. yes, that is my 3 year old cell phone. yes, it does work.

incoming wave meets outgoing

just past sunset, perhaps tasogare?

where did the day go

starting with a good workout and then a walk, some shopping, some more walking and then the bus home. if you would have been with me today you might have seen some of these images. it was a mostly sunny day but i don't think the temperature reached 70f. i am sure it will be colder in Philly in a few days. i had good talk with Francisco at the gym. he is the most dedicated to getting into shape and losing weight person i know. hopefully that sentence made sense. i also talked with Matthew who works for Disney. we were doing our laundry at the same time this afternoon. i hope to see some of his art work one day. time for dinner and some Monday Night Football. wow, i had breakfast at 730a and no lunch. and now it is almost 6pm. where did the day go?
if you get a chance, if you like Holiday music, check out this station. they are the official station for your Holiday Music.

sun rays. unfortunately they are hard to see in this photo but they were there and they were . . . . spectacular.

Domo-kun in Torrance

14 shopping days left?

half sun/half shade tanpopo (dandelion). ok, i was causing the shade.

meanwhile back in Japan . . .
one of my last meals. Onabe. and oh, i wish i was having it tonite.

believe it or not

infinite impossibilities (from yesterday)

after 11 years of listening, i completely forgot about The Vinyl Cafe this morning.
luckily i can listen tomorrow morning after my sunday walk to the beach. and i didn't go outside until 4pm. didn't even open the door until then. i only went out to take out the trash and check the mail. and in the mail was a nice postcard from my sister from her recent anniversary adventure to Egypt. here is the postcard.

meanwhile back in Japan . . .

sunshine 2 (flowers, ocean, sunset)

4 hours later and i am home again. of course, it doesn't take quite that long to walk to the beach but a few photos here and there. and walking barefoot in the sand and watching the waves and . . . more photos. i waited for the 444pm sunset before walking home stopping by the grocery store for a few things for tonite's dinner and some snacks for the Monk series finale. fortunately i had my Canada (Roots) sweatshirt in my backpack as it became quite cool even before the sun found the clouds to hide behind near the horizon. here are a few photos from my walk to and from and along the beach starting and ending with tanpopo (dandelions).

i have lost a few things this past year but not a wetsuit
