today and days gone by

not today. hint. there is a castle nearby.

not today. the view in London while crossing the Thames River.

today. the bus home from the gym. two mohawk-ed passengers is a first. maybe.

not today. Banpaku Kinen Koen and cherry blossoms and a few cherry blossom-lovers.

today. this morning on the way to the bus stop.

not today. Misa-chan's and my shoes. mine are on the right.

no worries

thanks to a new friend for adding this new (to me) singer to my so far life . . .
Nightminds by Missy Higgins

where has the day gone?⌛ well, my broken Canon camera is on it's way back to Virginia (the state not a person). my un-used airline tickets to and/or from Japan are on their way back to Phoenix for a refund. my laundry and dishes have been done. ok, but not put away completely. i called Casio about my broken point-and-shoot camera but i think it is not under warranty. i went thru one box of maps and "stuff" from Japan and found where the Neko-dera (Cat Temple) is in Kyoto. and as i was organizing some cds . . . mainly looking for one specific one . . . there was suddenly a knock at the door. my oldest (longest-known) friend sent me the new Sam Baker cd "Cotton". a big thank you to her.
and as you can see the cosmos ☼ are still growing and there was another tsuyukusa bloom. two presents in one day, three if i include learning about the singer Missy Higgins. four if i count my good health. five if i count the nap i am about to take while listening to Sam. ♪

this is the original photo from yesterday taken with the old Polaroid digital using the "negative" application. it does look a little different than the one below ↓

gray turns blue then fades to black and error -99

a not-so-funny thing happened at the beach today . . . my Canon broke down. it seems to be suffering from an "unspecified" error. after trying several easy solutions, i called the Canon authorized service center for help. tomorrow i am supposed to send it back to Virginia for repair. the photo below was taken with my old Polaroid. and then i changed it a little in Photoshop : ) i will add the original tomorrow. big difference as you will see.
flying south for the winter? no, just a flock of pelicans looking for breakfast.

more photos from my walk to and along the beach with the Polaroid.

Music is Life

since i didn't make the trip to Venice Beach today to hear some "live music", i did listen to some of my collection of "live music", "street live", "in-store live","festival music" while doing this and that around my little apartment. here is one of my favorite songs/videos from Senri-chuo. i had to switch SD cards so i missed the first minute or so of the song . . . but these 4 minutes were sung with all of her heart. i will always remember the tear (涙) or two she wiped away. i did too.
Music Life by Junko Kamata (this song is available on iTunes).

a funny thing happened on the way to Abbot Kinney

first a little walk on this foggy sunday morning and maybe a photo or two. and then some breakfast while getting ready to catch one of three buses to get to the street fair on Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach. football will be on tv as i will be packing my backpack . . . that was the plan. erase/delete/format that from your memory. well, my little walk became longer as i get caught up in taking some photos of my new friend, the tsuyukusa and my old friend, the tanpopo (dandelion) along with some long-time friends, the asagao (morning glory). one flower one photo lead to another and then there were some fragrant plumeria on my walk to the market and now it is 3pm. no Abbot Kinney, no live music today. but, i will not think about what i didn't get to do today but will enjoy all the blessings i do have.

tsuyukusa meets tanpopo and their kage (shadows) also say ohayo.

in case you forgot who Humbert Humbert is. the is the first song i ever heard by them while listening to an un-labeled cassette tape of FM802. it is also the first song on the cd i received in the mail today. i would love to see them in concert.

tsuyukusa ga tsuzukimasu . . . and so does my lazy day

you know what i was doing at 7am . . . The Vinyl Cafe . . . but what have i been doing since then? enjoying the passing of time. taking a few photos. watching the L & O: Criminal Intent Marathon. and very very slowly cleaning up my little apartment. i may have to take a break and lay out by the pool.

today's tsuyukusa photo from my walk to the bus stop. this is similar to one from the other day but this was taken with the Canon not the Polaroid. hmmm, which is clearer?

a koi excuse or two

a funny thing happened on the way to the gym. but, i did find my gym card. and bought my bus pass for october.

one more bloom, one more excuse

just as i was getting ready to get ready to go to the gym, i noticed one more bloom on the tsuyukusa clipping from two days ago. the other two blooms had all but disappeared later that same afternoon. yesterday, i didn't notice even the possibility of another bloom (at 6am and again when i returned at 6pm).
and this morning there was one lonely (but i'm sure happy) bloom. so while taking a break from looking for my gym ID-card, i thought i would take a few photos. several hours later and no gym card later, i am still here. it looks like it will be a very hot day here in the south bay. maybe it is a beach day. i'm sure the ID card is around here somewhere.

not that there t'aint anything wrong with that

here's what you missed by not tagging along with me today. from the early morning fog in the South Bay to the searing heat in Hollywood. there was some comedy (including an comedy legend and personal favorite), a couple of new friends, a little rain (?), some shopping at a trendy Beverly Hills shop, a delicious cheeseburger, a quick search for Sam Baker's Cotton, some grocery shopping and all that only took about 10 buses and 12 hours. all these photos were taken with my small Polaroid point-and-shot(digital) because we weren't supposed to bring a camera into the taping of the new show called ... with JS as the executive producer. and where did i put the camera during the taping? hmmm.
