looking forward to the past

another greay day. yesterday for the second sunset in a row, the June Gloom returned so no walk to the beach. the gray arrows are pointing to the gray June Gloom that is sitting above the ocean. as you can see the setting sun will sun be lost in it's greynessness.
after returning home from a short friday night walk and thanks to Netflix's "watch instantly" i enjoyed the German film, Kirshbluten-Hanami for for the second time. the first time was on the flight back from Japan after the 2008 Ohanami season. here is about 90 seconds of the film. don't worry this seemingly strange scene will make sense if you see the movie and it is quite sweet. the song is Hiko-ki performed by Shibusashirazu Orchestra and it is in my iPod.

another photo of one of the beautiful fleur de lis (calla lily) blooming in the courtyard garden. yesterday's photos of the same flower were taken with my new Canon digital SLR camera (and how long will i keep calling it new?... how long will i keep using it?). the above and below photos were taken with my Casio compact digital camera.
happy yellow lilies on my walk this gray morning

these photos were taken a few years ago with my first digital camera . . . a $80 Polaroid. yes, i said Polaroid digital compact camera. well, i may or may not have tweeked these images a little in Photoshop.
have you checked out "Chico's blog"? this is not Chico but a cute Shiba-chan i saw during a bike ride to the Osakan countryside.

reflecting on the impermanence of Life

i will practice my sanshin today . . . sorry to Dave (my nice Irish neighbor).

i heard the above song this morning on The Vinyl Cafe (can you believe i have been listening to this show for 11 years). i loved Craig Cardiff's voice from the first note. but, it was not until i found this song on youtube that i truly heard/felt the words. thanks to whoever added the lyrics over the simple rose photo.

finally i added the software for my "new" Canon camera. this photo was taken with that camera and then "edited" with the Canon software. still think i want to try and rent a better lens to see if i can get the clarity that i am looking for. what do you think?
