good sunflower intentions

this is what we wanted to see

and this is what we saw . . . the first photo is take of this sign . . . the park was closed. more about that later. here are a few achikochi (here and there) photos from the last couple of days.

delicious lunch

my view of the sempuki (electric fan) while laying on tatami mat on another warm (atsui) day

view of my favorite blue-tiled home from the back and across the tanbo (rice field)

morning glories in all their blue/purple glory

back to yesterday. first a Happy Set-o at Makudo. Noriko and i had good intentions of seeing the himawari (sunflowers) at Banpaku Kinen Koen (Expo Park) but . . . we should have known something was wrong when we parked in the one shady (shaded) place in the big parking lot and the only other cars were parked in front of the tennis center. we walked to the West entrance only to find that the park is closed on wednesdays. zannen deshita. so, we decided to go to Minoo Taki (waterfall).

ichigo kakigori (strawberry snowcone, shaved ice) with feet dangling above the stream that flows down from the waterfall with the sound of kids playing and semi (cicadas) singing.

coincidently i saw these same two boys the other day with their Ojiichan (Grandfather) when i was having my favorite snack in one of my favorite places along the waterfall trail. they seemed to be having fun and maybe you can see their net and container for catching . . .

in those heels? if you remember, there are two ways to get to the waterfall and both require a nice little walk. you can walk from Hankyu Minoo train station about 2 miles or drive to a parking lot above the falls and walk down a steep but paved path. i am sure this couple drove and then walked down. good luck walking back up.
