this is the connection. on friday's Tom Morton Show, Tom played Eddy Grant's "Electric Avenue" (1983) somewhere near the end of show. i thought i had the song on my Eddy Grant album but it turns out i have the album released after. the one i have is Going for Broke which includes the hit "Romancing the Stone" from 1984.
.
yesterday i took the 232 bus to Long Beach. and then the Long Beach Passport A bus to Belmont Shores. and then the Long Beach bus 131 to Seal Beach. the stop i got off the bus was the last stop. the street was . . . Electric Avenue. (apparently not the same as the one in the song) and now you know the rest of the story. oh, when i arrived in Long Beach there was a local festival called University by the Sea going on so i stayed about 30 minutes, heard a couple of good bands, took a few photos. i would have stayed longer but i wanted to get to the kite festival. when i returned to Long Beach after the kite festival, the U-Sea Festival was still going on but i didn't research my transportation (bus schedule) to get back past 7pm. next time. and i did not set my vcr to tape the 9pm sunday Japanese drama.
here are some more images from my sunday journey to and sojourn in Seal Beach.
